The newspaper of January 25, 1939, which announces the end of the bankruptcy of the Maisons (19390125 - p. 7): https://doc.rero.ch/record/19106?ln=fr In the early 1920s, a young man named Goliardo Della Balda left the hilltop enclave of San Marino with his family to start a new life in Switzerland, in Granges (Grenchen). He had always dreamed of owning a superb watch, but at the time, it seemed an inaccessible luxury for someone of his humble background. This fascination drove him to master the watchmaking industry. After devoting several years to the industry, Goliardo Della Balda realized his dream of owning a superb watch and creating a world-class watchmaking company by launching his own brand in 1931. Delbana is thus almost a century old, as it still exists today. Initially, Delbana specialized in mechanical pocket watches and wristwatches, which were assembled in-house under strict quality controls. Widespread recognition of the quality and style of Delbana watches quickly fueled the company's growth, with over 100 employees and an extensive network of local suppliers. After a decade of producing high-quality pocket watches and wristwatches at affordable prices, Delbana began to focus on more sporty watches that were both durable and elegant. The chronograph was becoming increasingly popular with aviators and was also sought after on the racetrack and in underwater exploration. In 1954, Delbana launched the "Voltige" collection. The collection features a special effect created by a custom-made disc as a seconds hand, giving the illusion of a constantly moving cable that, to this day, is extraordinary. The model was supported by a global marketing campaign of hand-illustrated advertisements to promote this unique collection. Vibrantly colored shapes alongside dynamic timepieces generated excitement around the new design, which coincided with the brand's 25th anniversary. In the 1950s and 1960s, Delbana expanded its annual production to over 100,000 watches incorporating the popular AS1130 movement, sought after worldwide for its quality and robustness. The focus was on producing affordable Swiss-made watches, while rapidly developing partners. Models for men and women, as well as models exclusively for women, represented a significant category of innovation. Performance and durability were increasingly valued for active lifestyles, leading Delbana to launch "waterproof" models for sports and leisure. The innovation and mass marketing of quartz-powered watches in the 1970s had a significant impact on the Swiss watch industry. In the late 1970s, Delbana merged with the watch company WEGA, opening a new chapter for the brand with the production of quartz-powered watches. There are several Delbana watches with questionable symbols on the internet. There are several watches from different manufacturers that bear these symbols, and there's also Huber, who made Hitler's watch, which sold for $1 million. Or this aviation watch found in a drawer that sold for over $12,000 at auction. Manufactured by the renowned German watchmaker A. Lange & Sohne in the early 1940s.
