While automation was previously limited to prescriptive processes and ETL, the advent of AI marks a transition to intelligent automation—when systems don't simply execute predetermined steps but can interpret data, identify deviations, and propose solutions. This is especially important for areas such as planning, supply chain management, finance, and operational analytics. The role of the CIO is also significantly transforming. The report demonstrates that the CIO is no longer simply the owner of infrastructure and systems. Their responsibilities are expanding to include managing data as an asset, ensuring trust in analytics, and implementing AI as an element of business processes. The CIO is becoming the architect of a digital environment where data, models, AI, and decision-making processes combine. The presentation also addresses the gap between business and IT. AI and self-service approaches create the expectation that businesses will be able to work directly with data, but without an architectural foundation, this leads to chaos and loss of trust. In this context, the importance of balancing user flexibility and centralized management is emphasized. A separate section is devoted to trends: the growth of agent-based systems, the development of NLQ interfaces, the spread of RAG approaches, and the increasing share of decisions made with the participation or control of AI. These changes require a rethinking of approaches to security, governance, and access management. Overall, the report provides a holistic understanding of how companies should restructure their IT landscapes in the coming years: from a collection of disparate systems to a data- and AI-driven platform where semantics, data quality, and controlled use of AI play a key role.
