FineBI 7.0: премьера новой версии и обзор ключевых изменений

We present a detailed analysis of the new FineBI 7.0 platform and its differences from the previous generation. BI Consult experts and a representative from the vendor FanRuan demonstrate how the approach to self-service BI is evolving: from visualization tools to a full-fledged analytical data management system. Learn more about FineBI (test licenses, try, purchase, download training materials, and courses) - https://datafinder.ru/products/finebi The key focus of the webinar is the transition from the decentralized analytics typical of version 6 to the centralized architecture for managing metrics, models, and data in version 7.0. While FineBI previously focused more on the ease of dashboard creation and user self-service, the new version enhances manageability, reuse, and consistency of analytics across the entire company. The recording details how FineBI 7.0 creates a unified data management framework: from loading sources and preparing data to constructing metrics and using them in dashboards. This eliminates a common problem with self-service BI: metric discrepancies between reports and users. One of the key innovations is the Indicator Center—a centralized metric management layer. Unlike version 6, where metrics were often defined at the level of individual dashboards or models, 7.0 introduces a unified metrics library with controlled calculation logic. This brings the platform closer to the concept of a semantic layer within BI. The approach to data modeling has been significantly redesigned. FineBI 7.0 implements centralized models that can be created visually, linked by multiple fields, and reused. This reduces logic duplication and simplifies maintenance. In version 6, such scenarios were often implemented locally and required manual oversight. The webinar also demonstrates a unified data preparation chain—from the source to cubes and metrics. Unlike the previous version, where stages could be disjointed, the platform now builds an end-to-end pipeline with unified transformation and calculation rules. Special attention is paid to data lineage. FineBI 7.0 significantly expands data lineage tracking capabilities: users can see how a metric is formed, from source to visualization. This is an important step toward data governance and increased trust in analytics. The updated Data Directory (formerly Public Data) is transformed into a full-fledged data catalog with advanced search, filtering, and a tagging system. This simplifies data navigation and promotes reuse. In terms of user experience, the platform enhances its self-service component through template libraries—Template Market and Fine Gallery. These allow for the rapid deployment of analytical solutions based on ready-made patterns. A separate section of the webinar is dedicated to the AI capabilities of FineBI 7.0. FineChatBI is now available—an AI assistant for working with data that allows you to formulate queries in natural language, build visualizations, and run basic forecast scenarios. Additionally, Dashboard Q&A functionality has been introduced, allowing you to ask questions within the context of a specific dashboard without going beyond its logic. A key difference from classic text-to-SQL approaches is that AI works within the context of already prepared data and models, reducing the risk of incorrect interpretations. Overall, the webinar demonstrates that FineBI 7.0 is moving toward a platform-based approach: BI is becoming more than just a visualization tool, but part of a managed data platform that combines self-service, centralized logic, and AI elements. Key layers discussed in the webinar 1. Data sources Various systems and databases integrated into FineBI. 2. Data preparation Cleaning, transforming, and combining data in a single pipeline. 3. Data Modeling Centralized models with reuse and relationship management. 4. Indicator Center Unified library of metrics and business logic calculations. 5. Data Directory and Lineage Data catalog, search, tags, and indicator lineage tracking. 6. AI Layer (FineChatBI, Dashboard Q&A) Working with data using natural language, automatic analytics generation. 7. Visualization and Consumption (Dashboards, Reports) Dashboards, reports, templates, and visualization libraries. 8. Self-service Layer Business users can work with analytics without developer intervention.
