I still can’t quite believe the price I managed to get. £15 each way, plus £30 for a cabin. Such a bargain. I’m travelling with my daughter Naomi, which makes it feel even more special. We board the ferry with Brittany Ferries and spend some time exploring. We wander through duty-free, check out the restaurants, and are really impressed with everything on board. When we get to our cabin, we discover a bunk that pulls down from the ceiling, which feels like a bit of an adventure in itself. A cosy little space for the night as we make our way to St Malo. Arriving in St Malo, A Historic Moment & Simple Treats | Daily Vlog Friday 27th March (2026) We arrive in St Malo, although it takes a little while to get through passport control. Once we are through, though, it is absolutely worth the wait. We are completely wowed by St Malo from the moment we step out. Quite by chance, we find ourselves witnessing a real moment of history. A fishing trawler is leaving the harbour for the final time, heading off to be dismantled. Hundreds of people are gathered to watch, along with a film crew and a flotilla of boats accompanying the journey. It feels incredibly special to be there and to witness something so meaningful, completely unexpected. Afterwards, we take a little time to wander and soak it all in. We enjoy a fresh baguette and later treat ourselves to an ice cream, just sitting and watching the world go by. Back to Plymouth, Home to Totnes & Onwards to Northampton | Daily Vlog Saturday 28 March (2026) We arrive back in Plymouth, marking the end of our little trip. It always feels a bit strange stepping back onto home soil after a quick adventure away. From there we catch the train back to Totnes, easing ourselves back into familiar surroundings before the next leg of the journey. Once back, we get ready for the drive up to Northampton.
