“An affinity for a certain color does not determine personality or sexuality,” a quote by Fani Hisgail, cited by Ivandro Sigaval during his TEDxKaMaxakeniWomen 2023 talk. Ivandro took a journey back to his childhood, where he recalled memories of violence experienced by himself, his siblings, and his mother, all because his father had an aversion to behaviors and interests normally associated with women, and the meaning behind the colors that, according to Ivandro's father, shape our perception from birth. Ivandro used everyday examples in an immersive way to prove that a man who chooses to wear PINK is no less of a man than one who wears BLUE. Ivandro Sigaval is a co-founder of the Mozambique Youth Observatory Association, where he serves as Provincial Coordinator. Previously, he was President of the Constituent Assembly. He founded and coordinates the national socio-cultural and literary movement "Educating with Art," and has worked with AMODEFA, advocating for the sexual and reproductive rights of adolescents and young people. He has become a committed defender and social activist for agendas related to HIV/AIDS prevention, child marriage, gender-based violence, and is an advocate for human rights, particularly the rights of children and girls. Originally from Quelimane, Zambézia province, he is a communications specialist with a degree in journalism. He has worked in audiovisual and print media and was part of CECAP, where he participated in the discussions leading to the approval of the Law on the Prevention and Combat of Child Marriage. Sigaval is a poet, slam poet, and declaimer dedicated to defending social interests.
