With the theme of the normalization of sexual harassment in the workplace, Aida explains that the normalization of harassment begins in families, when our parents accept that an uncle or neighbor touches our bodies claiming that we are his "wife," no matter how small we are. Ignorance of legal provisions and the impunity of perpetrators are other factors that influence the normalization of sexual harassment. For Aida, violence against women has no excuse; it is a crime. Aida Nhavoto holds a degree in French teaching from the Pedagogical University of Maputo and also a degree in multimedia journalism from Midia Lab. Aida is a teacher, journalist, and social activist for women's human rights. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format, but independently organized by a local community.
