Mid-American Traction Elevator @ Dupont Circle Station | Washington, DC

(30-05-2026) This is the elevevator between the street and mezzanine at the Dupont Circle Metro Station (Red Line) in the Dupont Circle neighborhood of Northwest Washington DC. This was originally a US elevator, but it was modernized in the mid-2000s before being completely replaced by Mid-American Elevator in 2025. This elevator is unique as it has both a front and side door, one of only three elevators on the Metro system to have this setup. == Elevator Specs == Elevevator Number: 1 (A03N01) Serial Number: Unknown (DC makes this info difficult to find) Floors Served: M, *S Capacity: 2,500 Lbs (~1,134 Kg) Speed: 200 fpm (~1.01 m/s) Manufacturer/Installer: Mid-American Elevator Installed: 2025 (replaced original elevator from 1977) Controller: Mid-American Openings: 2 (front and right/side) Door type: two-speed Door Operators: GAL MOVFE Interlocks: GAL Fixtures: Monitor Pushbuttons: Monitor HPS1300 (amber LED illumination) Braille: SCS die-cast rectangle and square (silver on black) Car Operating Panel: Monitor stainless steel applied Hall Stations: Monitor custom oxidized bronze Emergency Phone: unknown (integrated into COP and hall stations) Fire Service: 2004 code ASME A17.1 code year: 2013 Car Lanterns: Monitor vandal resistant Hall "position indicators": Custom Car Position Indicator: CE Electronics Elite PI Mini 4.3" LCD (EMN43-S6H) Voice Annunciator: CE Electronics VM3541 Camera: iPhone 16 Pro There are two easter eggs in this video. First one has to do with an intentional "typo" in the description. The other one is a reference that some people may get. I sort of went out of my way to film this elevator the other day so that I could post this video today for a specific reason.
