A Trans Woman, A Wedding, And Her Family's 'Honor'

Sogand Pakdel was a 25-year-old trans woman and activist from Kavar in Iran's Fars Province, a member of the Qashqai tribe. She had survived years of family abuse for living openly as herself. In the summer of 2025 she chose to attend her cousin's wedding despite explicit threats, and she did not come home. This is the story of her courage, her activism, and the legal loophole that still shields the family who turned on her.
