KNP - The Sentinel

A return trip from Charlotte pass to Sentinel peak. Spring 2023 #12 : Charlotte pass - Blue Lake junction - Ridge climb to 2100m - Ridge to The Sentinel - Return. Distance : Perhaps 14 km return. Walking conditions : Tracks, snow field crossings, and the narrow ridge to Sentinel peak. There is a reasonable scramble below the trig marker, which can be more difficult when the snow is frozen. The changes in elevation are fairly hard going over the route : Charlotte pass - 1836m : Snowy river - 1730m : Twynam ridge crest - 2100m : Low point on Sentinel ridge - 1850m : Sentinel trig - 1900m : then all in reverse to return. This is a walk where leg endurance is put to the test. Notes : Views are superb from this isolated peak that is probably the most exposed mountain top on the range.
