KNP - Rennix reccy and Panorama point

Route finding in the meadows west of Andrews lookout. Spring 2023 #13 : Rennix gap - reccy of route for Andrews Lookout - Return : Visit to Panorama point. Distance : 5-6 km. Walking conditions : Sub alpine meadows. Skirting of bogs. Notes : Trying to locate a better route to Andrews Lookout, I poke about in the sub alpine meadows to the west of the area. The direct route I have taken on previous trips is too heath ridden for enjoyment. This exploratory walk traces an anti-clockwise circuit through the upper meadows of Little Diggers creek. Always interested in the old summit area route used before 1900, I take note of the possibilities of the way taken. The usual way up to Panorama point (for me) begins on the Guthega road from the view in the final shot of Sponars Chalet. There is another ridge that begins from Rennix gap, but it is choked up with heath in the lower reaches. Also in the Panorama point area, the enclosed nature of the snow gums tends to obscure visual navigation, and the ridges curve along their length, so a little disorientation usually occurs. But the trig isn't far (1.5 km), and there are many deer paths. The occasional view of Mt Sunrise is helpful for bearings. ( :
