Inside China's Most Expensive Supermarket 🇨🇳 Chinese People really buy THESE?!
In this video, I visit one of the fanciest supermarkets I have seen in China: Olé, a premium supermarket in Wuhan where almost every product feels completely new to me. After being in China for a few weeks, I realised something strange: I had done so many things already, but I had barely been inside a supermarket. In China, everything is so convenient that you can order food, snacks, fruit, drinks, and daily items straight to your door. So I wanted to finally see what a real Chinese supermarket is like, and whether it is similar to supermarkets back home in Europe. The answer was very simple: not at all. From the moment I walked in, I was shocked by the quality, the packaging, the prices, and the amount of things I had never seen before. Giant oranges with security tags, beautifully packaged fruit, tiny watermelons, huge cherries, yellow tomatoes, green tomatoes, black tomatoes, white strawberries, strange alien-looking fruits, and more types of premium fruit than I even knew existed. Because Chinese New Year was coming, the whole supermarket was full of beautiful gift boxes, red packaging, horse-themed decorations, oranges everywhere, and expensive-looking products that felt more like luxury presents than normal groceries. It honestly felt less like a supermarket and more like a museum of food I could not understand. As I walked around, things got even stranger. Beef balls, pork balls, shrimp balls, octopus balls, cuttlefish balls, fish balls, fancy rice, dried fish maw, expensive honey, baozi, meat snack gift boxes, organic rock sugar, beancurd sticks, duck clavicle snacks, duck wings, boneless chicken feet, beef crisps, dried pineapple, honey lemon drinks, coconut snacks, jackfruit chips, ginseng powder, dried mushrooms, and even supermarket products locked behind a cage because they cost hundreds of euros. ⏰ TIMESTAMPS: 00:00 Intro: Chinese supermarkets, utopia or dystopia? 00:15 Visiting China’s fanciest supermarket 00:25 Why I barely went to supermarkets in China 00:41 Comparing Chinese supermarkets to Europe 00:51 Entering Olé supermarket 01:03 Giant oranges with security tags 01:20 Why Chinese people love oranges 01:45 Beautiful Chinese New Year fruit packaging 02:02 Fruits I have never seen before 02:17 Tiny watermelons and huge cherries 02:38 Yellow, green and black tomatoes 03:05 Strange vegetables and mystery foods 03:58 Beef balls, pork balls, shrimp balls and fish balls 04:34 Premium rice and expensive mystery products 05:03 Dried fish maw and fancy fruit 05:15 White strawberries and luxury honey 05:46 Baozi and the orange obsession 06:05 Chinese New Year gift boxes 06:17 Why this is not Chinese Lidl 06:39 Organic rock sugar and beancurd sticks 07:07 Duck snacks and boneless chicken feet 07:50 Strange expensive beef snacks 08:35 Dried fruit and honey lemon drinks 08:57 Coconut, banana and jackfruit snacks 09:23 Ginseng powder and mystery tubes 09:59 Supermarket products locked behind a cage 10:32 Realising I do not know what to buy 10:48 Looking for normal European groceries 11:38 Trying to read Chinese supermarket deals 12:15 What I finally bought 12:27 Successful shopping in China 12:29 Free red pockets for Chinese New Year 🌍✈️🌍✈️🌍✈️🌍✈️🌍✈️🌍✈️🌍✈️🌍✈️🌍✈️🌍✈️🌍✈️🌍 ABOUT ME My name is Máté, and I’m a 24-year-old Christian and family-friendly travel YouTuber, creating content for English speakers and Korean viewers who want to learn English and laugh along the way 🌍✝️🇰🇷 🌍 MY WEBSITE: https://urimate.com Got feedback?
