NAVEGANDO por el RÍO DE LA PLATA en Velero ⛵ Ruta Náutica Imperdible en Buenos Aires, Argentina 🇦🇷
In today's video, we'll be sailing the Río de la Plata in Buenos Aires! One of the great things about sharing videos on YouTube is that it has given us the opportunity to connect and meet people from all over the world. On this particular day, we accepted an invitation from a lovely couple (hi Mirta and Jorge!) to spend the day sailing on the Río de la Plata, and it was a spectacular day! Even though we didn't know each other, Mirta and Jorge made us feel like family. They picked us up in Almagro, we drove together to San Isidro, shared a delicious lunch, and then set off for a beautiful afternoon sailing on the Río de la Plata! After several dreary days of rain, we finally had a sunny day, blue skies, and a lovely breeze to go sailing. It was the perfect day! Thank you again to Mirta and Jorge for the invitation and hospitality, and we hope to see you again soon! SAILING THE RIVER PLATE on a Sailboat ⛵ Unmissable Nautical Route in Buenos Aires, Argentina 🇦🇷 Welcome from the Southeast Nautical Club They greet each other "good morning" from the banks of the River Plate, excited because after a gray Friday of rain and cold, today the sun finally came out and promises a perfect Saturday for sailing. Invitation from Mirta and Jorge A couple who have been following them from the canal—Mirta and Jorge—picked them up at their apartment in Almagro to take them to the dock for a day of racing. Trip to the club They drive about an hour from San Isidro; they comment on the peaceful and green surroundings, describing the blue sky and the warmth, ideal for outdoor activities. Pre-Sail Lunch Before setting sail, they order ham and cheese sorrentinos with puttanesca sauce, meat empanadas with egg, and, of course, a glass of Malbec to recharge their batteries. Toast and Gourmet Atmosphere They celebrate the deliciousness of the food and the convenience of not having to cook the barbecue; they praise the perfect pairing of pasta and wine, and thank their hosts for their kindness. Refueling at the Maritime Station They stop the sailboat at the boat station and load up with diesel, anticipating that they will need a motor instead of a sail due to the lack of wind. Sailboat Description They proudly present the 36-foot sailboat: impeccable hull, spacious deck, and all the necessary equipment for comfortable sailing. Motor Departure They set off for the Río de la Plata with the engine running; They estimate a 30–40-minute cruise, ready to enjoy the day even if the “free wind” is somewhat timid. Life on Board and Nap Samuel takes the opportunity to take a nap in the sun while the light breeze cools the bow; they enjoy the calm and the murmur of the water against the hull. Panoramic Views From the deck, they observe the buildings of Palermo and Puerto Madero, as well as dozens of moored sailboats, painting a unique urban-nautical landscape. Sailing Lessons Mirta teaches them basic maneuvers: steering the “little ball” so the rudder maintains the course, and the importance of speed and balance to avoid losing control. Sailor Humor They joke that “we throw anyone who vomits overboard” and reflect on the advantage of sailing with the wind—“the cheapest thing there is”—if it should blow. Return to the Dock After the ride, they return to the Yacht Club. They emphasize the total duration (11:00–20:00) and celebrate the smoothness of the motorized cruise. Sweet Snack They close the day with a classic "submarino" (hot chocolate) and ricotta cake, expressing gratitude for the thoughtfulness that prolongs the pleasure of the afternoon. Thanks to Mirta and Jorge They acknowledge the generosity and warmth of their new friends, "spectacular people" who made this an unforgettable day. Summary of the Day They conclude that sailing the Río de la Plata was a unique, relaxing, and very enriching experience, perfect for reconnecting with the city from the water. Promise of Future Meetings They say goodbye with the promise of seeing Mirta and Jorge again and continuing to explore Buenos Aires on future adventures.
