A Panorama investigative team obtained exclusive access to the personal diary of Liseth Albina Cruz Ruíz, the former partner of Erick Moreno Hernández, alias “El Monstruo” (The Monster), considered one of the most dangerous criminals in the country. The notebook, handwritten during his incarceration at the Chorrillos Women's Prison Annex, where he is serving a 36-month pretrial detention sentence for the alleged crime of organized crime, reveals intimate and violent passages from the criminal's life. In her entries, Liseth Cruz recounts meeting Erick Moreno Hernández during her school years when she was just 15 years old and how their relationship led her to flee Peru after receiving threats from her then-partner's enemies. According to her testimony, the beginning of “El Monstruo's” criminal career took place in Ica, where he allegedly committed his first robbery at the bakery where he worked, marking the start of a criminal career that consolidated over time. Liseth Albina Cruz Ruiz's personal diary also indicates that her incarceration at the Maranguita juvenile detention center was a turning point in her criminal life. Far from being a period of rehabilitation, Cruz Ruiz maintains that this experience allowed Erick Moreno Hernández to refine his criminal activities and expand his network of contacts, which later led him to lead the criminal organization "Los Injertos del Cono Norte" in northern Lima.
