Inside the Secretive World of Japanese Mountain Shamanism

As part of a pilgrimage to sites along the Kumano Kodō led by Tibetan teacher Geshe Tenzin Zopa, we met with Koshō, a renowned Shugen master. We were allowed a glimpse into some of the tantric practices that are rarely seen by visitors outside of the tradition. This included a very special opportunity to participate in a Goma fire ceremony. This Goma was especially unique because it was collaboration between the two masters, blending the traditional Shugen Goma with the Tibetan Dorje Khadro puja. This was the first time such a ceremony has been performed. May all those who view this video share in the merit of this auspicious occasion.
