After crossing practically an entire continent, facing mountains, deserts, bureaucracy, fears, complicated borders, and moments that tested my resilience, the day arrived to face one of the borders that caused me the most anxiety throughout this journey: the United States. And to increase the tension even more, upon arriving at immigration I was directed to a separate room to answer additional questions. I confess that my mind wandered at that moment. The fear, the anxiety, and everything I had been carrying for months seemed to weigh even more heavily there. But when I finally received authorization to enter and saw the famous welcome sign to the United States... it hit me. And I cried. I cried with relief. I cried with gratitude. I cried for everything I had lived through to get there. Sometimes we think we're being strong all the time, until the moment we realize the magnitude of the battle we just won.
