The MRX: A 90km Endurance Race Across Algonquin!
No one loves a physical challenge more than us! From paddling 420km around Algonquin Park over 15 days to attempting one of the most challenging marathon canoe races in the world. The Muskoka River X (MRX). The 2024 MRX race is a 90km endurance race covering lakes and rivers through the heart of Canada’s iconic Algonquin Park. We have never competed in a canoe race, so why not start with one of the toughest out there! The learning curve was huge, but we embraced it. From the time the starting gun went off at 0700 to paddling a boney river in the dark, we were amazed at the skill, speed and perseverance of the other athletes. Above all, the support and kindness of the organizers and fellow racers, make us proud to have been part of this community. There are so many people in our lives that support us. From my recovery from surgery to cheering us on from the river banks. Your love is limitless and we are so grateful to have such amazing people in our lives. A very special thanks to Mary for encouraging me to sign up for this race when my future was so uncertain. Without her support and positivity, I would not have had the guts to attempt this. Thank you to the amazing Amy Foster for her photography. For more of her work see her site: https://www.fosteredphoto.ca/ And thank you to Rob and Mike for letting us use their awesome drone footage!
