I invite you, friends, to meet all the members of the Kaliningrad homlin family! Their creator is artist and amber craftsman Natalia Shevchenko. She said she sketched the first sketches of the homlins during a phone conversation. Initially, it was an idea for a computer game about fairy-tale characters who mined amber. Her friend, Moscow sculptor Andrey Sledkov, saw the drawings and created a three-dimensional model out of plasticine. Thus, the idea grew from a simple idea into a real street art object. And then the name was coined—from the English word "home." The first bronze homlin statue of Grandpa Karl appeared on Medovy Bridge in June 2018 and immediately became a new landmark of the city! In subsequent years, the remaining family members were identified: Grandma Marta at the Amber Museum, Dad Leo at the Art Museum, Mom Varvara at the Wrangel Tower, little Vitya and Ulya at the aquarium and zoo, and the youngest, Antoshka, in the Amalienau district. All seven homlins are specially placed in different corners of Kaliningrad to introduce visitors to its history and architecture.
