LA VIRTUD DE LA CARIDAD EN EL SACERDOTE (Mini-Retiro Sacerdotal de las Virtudes Teologales, 3 de 3)

LOVE Wounds and Emptiness Of family origin (childhood, adolescence): absence of father or mother; comparisons and humiliations; bullying. Of emotional origin: sexual insecurities; betrayals in friendships; disappointments or contempt from a partner; humiliations or injustices at work. In priestly formation: misunderstanding or feeling of being discarded; serious academic difficulties; ridicule or isolation; feeling of injustice on the part of authority. Indifference and Hardness Often, these are the result of the wounds and emptiness mentioned above. They tend to be self-protective mechanisms. Other possible origins include: underdeveloped personality traits; unbalanced priestly formation; environments of extreme surveillance. These attitudes of hardness can also arise from the transference of other personal situations: resentment, frustration with the community; exhaustion and a feeling of being "exploited." - Sometimes these attitudes have specific targets: women, children, nuns, the poor, young people. Resentment and Rebellion Injustice, whim, greed, and transference are often the internal factors that generate or facilitate rebellious attitudes. These attitudes are fueled by repeated recollection and gossip; in a later, more serious phase, the person seeks to associate with others who also have reasons to complain about the same people. Resentment does not heal on its own, nor is the passage of time enough for things to improve. In the most serious cases, the person builds a kind of mental "fortress" from which they will defend their position and believe they are right to feel what they feel and be the way they are. Recommendations 1. Become aware that we are not made of stone and that, therefore, things, attitudes, and words affect us. 2. The Manichean classification of the world between "good" and "bad" stagnates and completely obstructs the path to healing. 3. Loving contemplation of Easter scenes from the Gospel is very beneficial, especially if one "enters" into the scene and recognizes one's need, blessing, and gratitude. 4. The gift of the Holy Spirit is a gift that comes from the heart and prayer of Christ, and it has the power to heal and profoundly transform our entire being. *** BECOME A MEMBER of the Channel!
