I Was Wrong About Titanfall 2 (It Puts Modern Shooters to Shame)

Titanfall 2 has one of the best FPS campaigns ever made. So why hasn't Respawn made a Titanfall 3? Apex Legends took the franchise's place, and 10 years later, I played Titanfall 2 for the first time - turns out I was very wrong about it. Respawn Entertainment came out of nowhere with Titanfall in 2014, then refined it into Titanfall 2 in 2016. The campaign earned an 89 Metacritic score and comparisons to Half-Life 2, but the game undersold against Battlefield 1 and Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare. What followed was five recorded attempts to bring Titanfall 3 to life - all dead. Apex Legends now generates billions on the bones of what Titanfall 3 was supposed to be, and ex-Respawn devs who tried to recreate the magic with their own studio collapsed within weeks. This video covers my first-time blind playthrough of the Titanfall 2 campaign and multiplayer, breaks down the Effect and Cause mission that completely changed my opinion, and walks through the full Respawn history — their Call of Duty origins, the EA acquisition, the pivot to Apex Legends, every dead Titanfall 3 attempt, and the Highguard collapse.
