Today I woke up in Santa Cruz de la Sierra ready to experience my first full day in Bolivia — and what a day! 🌎✨ I started at the Mercado Nuevo, where the smell of roasted meats fills the corridor, and the friendly Don Fernando alternates between serving, collecting payments, and taking the best roasted meats I've ever tasted out of the oven. Between cuñapés (small alcoholic drinks), coffee served in giant mugs, and the vibrant energy of the market, it was impossible not to fall in love with the Santa Cruz rhythm early in the morning. Afterwards, we continued exploring the city: we walked to Plaza 24 de Septiembre in a festive atmosphere, with music, performances, and streets decorated for the city's anniversary. We also took the opportunity to take care of the practical aspects of the trip — currency exchange, safety tips with banknotes, and the purchase of a Bolivian SIM card. In the afternoon, I was enchanted by the Paseo Artesanal La Recova, full of local crafts, and had lunch at the charming Club Social 24 de Septiembre, a historic mansion with a full menu and great prices! I also visited the famous Casa Cero ice cream shop, tried typical flavors, and spent some quality time in the square watching life go by. At night, I tried a tasting menu of traditional Bolivian food at the El Ajibe restaurant, which even has a mini-museum inside! And to top it all off, we went to the bus station to catch the sleeper bus to Cochabamba, with seats that recline 180°, showing everything inside and recounting the ordeal of the backpacks that almost didn't make it onto the bus with me.
