Magdeburg Law was once granted here, the Sapieha family built castles, and Emperor Alexander III came to serve at the local church. Today, it's a quiet and slightly mysterious town on the westernmost border of Belarus. Zhenya, Sergey, and I decided to see it all for ourselves. Without a car, just on foot, in one day. In this episode, we explore Vysokoe and show you its main (and not so main) treasures: ✔️ The bastion castle, of which only the gate remains, ✔️ The palace, which until recently housed a boarding school, ✔️ The legendary brick Yablonovskaya greenhouse and the magnates' garden, ✔️ A church with a complicated history and the chapel of St. Barbara, ✔️ The Church of the Exaltation of the Cross, which remained open even during the Soviet years.
