This video presents the bells c#1 -e1 -f#1 -a1 -h1 -c#2 [do#3 -mi3 -fa#3 -la3 -si3 -do#4] of St. Mary's Church in Weissenhorn. It is one of the largest post-war peals from the Grueninger bell foundry, complementing a small bell from the two-war period. ➥ Only the smallest bell [5] from the Wolfart foundry in Lauingen has survived from the interwar peal. For the year of casting, 1919, it is a very sonorous example. After the remaining bells had been destroyed during the Second World War, new bells were consecrated in Weißenhorn as early as 1949. The bell foundry Grueninger in nearby Straß near Neu - Ulm produced one of their largest post-war peals. The master used the light bell shape. Most of the bells are housed in a mighty wooden construction, which dates back to the time when the church was rebuilt. Since the peal was made of six voices after the war, the large "Weißenhorn Peace Bell" [1] found its place in a newly built belfry under the previous belfry. Despite the light shape and the date of origin in the early post-war years, it is a relatively sonorous peal. Especially in front of the church, the whole ensemble is powerful and surprisingly well-balanced despite being hung in separate belfries.
