Figma Tools: More Than Just a Workflow Update

Figma’s new AI Gen plugins let you build custom creative workflows directly inside your design file—and in this video, I build five of them from scratch. We’ll create a randomizer for rotations and component variants, generate interface states with a variant expander, check designs for accessibility issues, turn screenshots into polished browser mockups, and organize messy design flows. Along the way, I’ll show you how to prompt Figma Agent, refine plugins when they don’t work as expected, and decide which ideas are best suited for lightweight AI Gen plugins. In this video: Build a custom randomizer Generate dark mode, loading, disabled, and error states Check accessibility, typography, contrast, and touch targets Create browser and device mockups Clean up and organize Figma design flows AI Gen plugins aren’t necessarily a replacement for full-featured community plugins. They’re perfect for repetitive tasks, unusual edge cases, and personalised workflows that only you might need. At the time of recording, creating AI Gen plugins requires access to the Figma Agent beta, a Pro account, and available AI credits. What AI Gen plugin would you build? Drop your idea—or something you’ve already created—in the comments. #figma #figmatools #figmaai #figmadesign #figmatutorial #productdesign #uidesignlearning #designworkflow #figmaplugins
