Perhaps we weren't fair to the Volkswagen Golf since its 2007 redesign—known as the "4.5 generation." There were reasons to reject it, such as its lag behind the European model, two generations ahead. But the GTI version offered a respite to those seeking a more spirited hatchback, and it also became immortalized as the most powerful and fastest Brazilian car of its time. After more than a decade in the engineering collection, the hatchback will be displayed at Garagem Volkswagen, the manufacturer's memorial in São Bernardo do Campo, São Paulo.
