Irish Railways: Claremorris to Ballina - February 1987
A look back to February 1987 onboard loco.153 operating the Ballina branch passenger service from Claremorris. Other locos of interest: 086 - departing Claremorris with a Dublin Heuston to Westport passenger service 026 - stabled on the former Ballinrobe branch platform at Claremorris having operated the previous night’s ‘Friday Only’ service from Dublin to Ballina - known locally as the ‘Friday Night’. 040 - stabled in Ballina freight yard prior to departing with the empty Asahi coal and oil liner. Of note are 5 bagged cement wagons attached to the rear of the liner waiting to make their way also to Limerick via Athenry.
