It's where I learned to ski, hike, and enjoy the mountains, and it's the place that fuelled my love for other cultures and inspired me to travel the world. It led me to visit 23 countries and countless US states, and the journey is not yet over. But there is a parallel narrative in my life, something I love just as much, and something I have always wanted to pursue: owning land. I have always wanted to have my own land, but over the years, I've been priced further and further out of the market in British Columbia's lower mainland region. This is not because my income went down; to the contrary. I had a good career through my teens and twenties and always made more and more money every year. But no matter what, I always felt further behind - and in reality, I was further behind. My income rose roughly 3-4% per year without fail, but some years the price of land rose as much as 37% in a single year, making me further and further behind the longer I stayed. This all came to a head in early 2020 when I realized the city and suburban life simply was not for me anymore. I wanted a place where I could be left alone to build the life I wanted for myself and my loved ones: to grow my own food, to raise livestock, to have space and freedom to roam. Fast forward now to 2025, 5 years later: My wife Tiana and I have made our dreams a reality. We found a small acreage in central BC for an affordable price that needs a TON of work. Thankfully, due to my background in construction, completing this work is just a matter of buying the materials and putting in the hours. We are beyond grateful to have a place of our own, to be developing it, and to be building a home-base. I hope you enjoy following along with this journey. This is just the beginning.
