Johann Ernst Rembt (1749-1810): Was Gott tut das ist wohlgetan

Whate'er My God Ordains Is Right -- English below! Rembt ist Rokoko in Reinkultur, besonders in seinen Choralvorspielen. Anders als in den von Rembt selbst in Druck gegebenen "Leichten triomäßigen Choralvorspielen" (    • Johann Ernst Rembt: Choralvorspiele | Chor...   ), wo sich der Cantus firmus auf den "Aufgesang" oder "Stollen" der Choralmelodie beschränkt und der zweite Teil der Melodie weggelassen ist, erscheint in dieser, wohl erst im 19.Jh. von G.W. Körner veröffentlichten Bearbeitung die Choralmelodie vollständig. Der charakteristische Stil der Begleitung ist derselbe. Neuausgabe in Ewald Kooiman (Hg.), J.E. Rembt -- E.L. Gerber, "Koraaltrio's voor orgel", mit Verweis auf Körner, "Der neue Organist" op.40 (Körner versah von ihm herausgegebene Sammelbände offenbar teilweise mit Opuszahlen; dieses op.40 habe ich selbst nirgendwo finden können). Unlike the "Leichte triomäßige Choralvorspiele" (Easy Chorale Preludes in the Manner of a Trio)(    • Johann Ernst Rembt: Choralvorspiele | Chor...   ) that Rembt published himself and where the cantus firmus is limited to the first part of the hymn tune (the part of the hymn that is repeated), in this piece the hymn tune is presented in its entirety. It was apparently published posthumously, by G.W. Körner (1809-65); the distinctive style of the accompaniment is the same as in Rembt's own collection. The piece was included by Ewald Kooiman in his volume "J.E. Rembt -- E.L. Gerber: Koraaltrio's voor orgel"; Kooiman gives as his source Körner's "Der neue Organist" op.40. (Körner seems to have been in the habit of giving opus numbers to the anthologies of organ music that he published. I have not been able to lay hands on this op.40 myself.)
