Photographed on June 10, 2026 This year, the illuminations at Bandaijima started remarkably early. Until last year, they started at the end of September, and even earlier, they ran from the end of the year until the end of February. Perhaps they're experimenting with different approaches? The name "Light Route 1 Mile Voyage" has changed to "Niigata 2km Light Walk" this year, and it seems to be lit up at 23 locations throughout Niigata City. This time, I saw the illuminations here, the second floor of the Bandaijima Building, and the logo of Watts Niigata across from Okama. The main area, the long promenade along the Shinano River, has been significantly upgraded! A Niigata logo, likely capable of light effects, and an arch-like structure have been newly installed. Furthermore, spherical illuminations resembling temari balls have been added to the entrance from the road.
