"China Today 1990" - part 6 "Nanjing and Wuxi"

Sixth in the "China Today 1990" series goes south to visit Nanjing, ancient capital of China, with a complex past of internal conflict and demeaning Japanese occupation but revealing, to our camcorder in 1990, a magnificence now somewhat faded but, historically, it is a most fascinating city. Next, we go further south and east to beautiful Wuxi, superbly sited on the banks of the magnificent Yangtze River, with a very cultured lifestyle and a rich history, plus a thriving silk fabric manufacturing industry which is shown to us with great pride. The contrast between the two cities and their lifestyles in 1990 is vividly captured. Enjoy!
