"LA EXPULSIÓN DE LO DISTINTO" - Byung-Chul Han

Summary and analysis of the book "The Expulsion of Difference" by Byung-Chul Han. Gone are the days when the other existed; today, sameness prevails and proliferates, positivity dominates over negativity, and paradoxically, this positivity renders the power of sameness invisible. A proliferation of sameness is occurring, masquerading as growth, and in this excess, it becomes destructive, just as an excess of information generates ignorance and disorientation, and an excess of communication accumulates messages without improving the exchange between people. Difference has been expelled in favor of a boundless positivity that generates an unstoppable increase in sameness. The terror of sameness reaches all vital aspects of our culture. Such is the case with social networks, those communities that accumulate followers or friends who share the same characteristics, avoiding encounters with difference. Social networks become the antithesis of the social because, by meeting like-minded people and forming bonds with those who think and feel the same way, we avoid the unknown and the different. Our horizon of experiences narrows, and we become trapped in an endless loop of the self. The tendency toward sameness expresses a violence, the violence of sameness that destroys the negativity of difference, of the singular, of that which hinders circulation, and leads to a loss of meaning. #philosophy #byungchulhan #sameness #different #pain See also the "Books, Thought and Society" playlist    • Libros. Pensamiento y Sociedad
