LA SOCIEDAD DEL CANSANCIO (Byung-Chul Han) - La Condena del RENDIMIENTO EXTREMO en el Siglo XXI
Byung-Chul Han is a South Korean philosophy professor at the Berlin University of the Arts and, above all, one of the most notable thinkers of the 21st century. The purpose of this documentary is to analyze one of his major works: "The Burnout Society." This philosophical essay maintains as its main thesis that the subject of contemporary societies has become self-entrepreneurial by virtue of boundless positivity. Consequently, excessive activity and a lack of passivity have contributed to the development of certain neuronal pathologies such as depression in its many forms, borderline personality disorder (BPD), attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and burnout syndrome (ODS). ⌚ Timeline: 00:00-02:20 - Introduction 02:20-07:58 - The Disciplinary Society 07:58-13:05 - The Performance Society 13:05-16:44 - The Terror of Immanence 16:44-20:49 - The Promised Land 20:49-23:03 - The Society of Fatigue 23:03-25:25 - Fundamental Fatigue 25:25-26:58 - Solitary Fatigue 26:58-30:22 - Conclusion 🎙️ Support the channel ► / ramtalks 🤝 You can also support the channel via: Paypal: paypal.me/ramtalks Bitcoin: 1J8tdVXCNGRmhX1AXE43ELrocN3f41kd47 Ethereum: 1LuaK9b8hRf9w4a8dwgYxhStvH9rWX6g2v 📖 Books by Byung-Chul Han ► https://amzn.to/2UhwfRx https://amzn.to/3knwGEo https://amzn.to/2VDvQZQ https://amzn.to/3emE7YQ https://amzn.to/3z4gxrQ https://amzn.to/3BbiggS https://amzn.to/3ibd6Zy https://amzn.to/2UQLfWw https://amzn.to/3enOnA2 https://amzn.to/2UfggTZ https://amzn.to/2Tc5flN https://amzn.to/3kmEl67 https://amzn.to/3khPCoa Hey! Now, power no longer resides in the negativity of disciplinary societies, but in a positivity (e.g., Könen) without limits. Instead of repression, positive force is limited to promoting, stimulating, and constantly demanding the individual to decide, innovate, and transcend with cries of "Yes, we can" or "Just do it." According to the South Korean, the Foucauldian figure of the subject of obedience disappears, and at the same time, the subject of performance gains prominence: a fiercely competitive profile, in continuous training, and immersed in countless challenges and tasks in order to achieve success. In this way, the person is objectified as human capital, and with it, their overall worth is subordinated to their net present market value; in other words, "if one does not contribute commercially, one is worthless." Given this, coercion should no longer be understood as an extrinsic element of individual freedom, but rather as intrinsic, so that we are the ones who demand unlimited increases in efficiency, increasing returns on labor, and taking the initiative in order to hyper-generate new ideas and projects. Thus, it is a coercion of-self-for-self that plunges the subject into the chimera of free choice: we impose demands on ourselves, believing that, in doing so, we are affirming our own freedom. The author elaborates on this idea in the following quote: "The performance society is not a free society. Rather, it produces new obligations. The dialectic of master and slave does not lead to a society in which everyone capable of leisure is a free being, but to one in which the master himself has become a slave to labor. And the peculiarity of the latter is that there one is simultaneously prisoner and guard, victim and executioner. Man becomes an animal laborans who exploits himself without external control.
