Olive Tray for fun

How to make a fun little olive tray - with one olive already in it! This is a quick project which is for any level of expertise. Tools needed (besides clay!) A wooden plaque in an oval shape (From Michael’s or other hobby store. Sometimes you can find them in thrift stores too) Piece of foam larger than your wooden plaque Scissors Paper for making pattern Plastic wrap for smoothing edges (optional) Vinegar (or slip) for attaching pieces Round circle shape for marking for foot (optional) Cutting tool Marble or similar shaped ball Boards to place your clay upon Loop type tool (only if you want to do the carving on the rim) Rolling pin: I finally decided to purchase one of those rolling pins with adjustable rings in an effort to roll my clay to a consistent thickness. Just google “rolling pin with rings” and you’ll see what I mean. They do work but your surface also needs to be level. My table has a slight dip - or my hardiback board does – not sure which! I do like and use it, but I also still use my regular rolling pin both to get the slab started and sometimes I just use the adjustable rolling pin at the end to try and even things out. Coral Red Mason Stain is what I used to color my white clay for the pimentos *Update - Thumbnail Picture is the tray after firing! #easyclaytutorial #appetizer #pottery
