JAKARTA, KOMPAS.TV - The sting operation against Kuansing Regent Suhardiman Amby, which initially involved an alleged bribery case related to the filling of the regional secretary position, has expanded to include other cases. During the investigation, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) uncovered other alleged crimes related to the release of limited production forest areas (HPT). Forestry Minister Raja Juli Antoni denied involvement in the alleged corruption case implicating Kuantan Singingi, or Kuansing, Regent Suhardiman Amby, and asserted that he had returned the envelope from Suhardiman without knowing its contents and claiming no rights to it. The Minister admitted to returning the envelope through his aide on June 12, 2026, or 17 days before Suhardiman Amby was arrested by the KPK in the alleged bribery case involving the release of forest areas in Kuantan Singingi. Minister Raja Juli claimed to have never issued a letter or decree changing the status of forest areas to other uses in the Kuantan Singingi region. The KPK is still investigating the envelope belonging to Forestry Minister Raja Juli Antoni. The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) stated that returning the envelope left by the Kuantan Singingi Regent does not automatically erase a person's criminal record, and opened the possibility of summoning Forestry Minister Raja Juli regarding the envelope Regent Suhardiman carried during the meeting. Criminal Law expert Hibnu Nugroho assessed Forestry Minister Raja Juli's admission as preliminary information that must be investigated to determine whether a crime has occurred. The KPK highlighted the authority to release forest areas rests with the Ministry of Forestry. Therefore, the KPK will investigate the meeting between Suhardiman and Raja Juli on June 2, 2026, as part of the investigation process.
