President John Dramani Mahama ‪@JohnMahamaTV‬ departs the Volta Region in the new Presidential Helicopter after successfully launching the government’s Free Healthcare Policy in Ho Government Hospital in Ho, the capital of the Volta Region. Addressing the Gathering, the President hilariously noted that that with just 2½ years left before retirement, he may return as a lecturer at a Nursing Training School because he’s “also a pocket doctor.” As part of the rollout, President Mahama handed over motorcycles to health directorates and modern medical equipment to health facilities across the region. The equipment and logistics are expected to improve service delivery, emergency response, and access to care under the new policy. Speaking at the event, President Mahama said the Free Healthcare Policy is aimed at removing financial barriers and ensuring every Ghanaian can access quality healthcare without paying out of pocket. He reaffirmed government’s commitment to strengthening primary healthcare, equipping hospitals, and supporting health workers.
