Züge in Falkenberg (Elster) – Die Eisenbahnstadt

Falkenberg at river Elster, a town in the federal state of Brandenburg/Germany, is an important railway hub. The extended track layout of Falkenberg station was the reason why Falkenberg got the additional name of "railway town". This name even appears on the signs when you enter the town by car. Falkenberg station is stacked. Railway lines cross on two levels. The railway line Halle/Leipzig–Cottbus is on the upper level. On the lower level railway lines lead to Jüterbog, Roßlau, Hoyerswerda, and Röderau (from there on to Leipzig and Dresden). From the bridge of Uebigauer Straße you have a good view northward across the tracks. There is a monument steam locomotive (class 52) and a colour light signal, changing between various aspects. Several connecting tracks between upper and lower part of the station can be seen further east, i.e. towards Uebigau and Doberlug-Kirchhain.
