Here's Why Indie Horror Gaming Is Destroying Itself

Horror is a prominent genre in gaming since the industry saw the light of day, and for many people, it's basically the reason why they joined the world of gaming in the first place. But even though the genre is so rich and diverse, I think it's fair to say that the last 10 years were obviously the golden age for indie horror games specifically. This was all triggered by the cancellation of P.T. in 2014, when people became insanely obsessed with finding a similar experience that could replace it. As a result, horror solo developers felt for the first time that they could actually provide something that a mass audience wants, and it was also a chance for them to go mainstream by competing on making the best P.T.-like game possible. However, in recent years, it feels like this wave is slowly fading away, and the genre has been losing momentum after hitting its peak years ago. Music: "Unknown Fear" by "Darren Curtis."
