Billion One - Some Place I Keep Dreaming About

There are moments that time never truly takes away. A little boy is sitting in a room, playing drums that don’t exist. No drum kit. No stage. No audience. Only imagination… and a dream too big to be seen. That little boy is me, around 5 years old. All I had was a dream, my imagination, and the feeling that music already belonged in my life. My father captured these moments on a VHS camera sometime in the 1980s, never knowing they would one day become part of my story. Many years later, he gave me those memories as a Christmas gift, carefully transferred onto DVD. More than old recordings, he gave me a way back to a part of myself I thought was gone. Today, those memories have found a new home in this video, accompanied by “Some Place I Keep Dreaming About” — a song I wrote and produced as Billion One. It is more than a song. It’s a conversation between who I was… and who I became. Sometimes the places we keep dreaming about are not somewhere ahead of us. Sometimes they’re hidden inside the memories that quietly shaped us from the very beginning. Thank you, Dad… for pressing “record” when I was only pretending. Maybe I wasn’t pretending after all.
