[Longplay, No Commentary] Total Annihilation: The Core Contingency (PC, 1998) Hard CORE Campaign

Subtitles (CC) available for text commentary The Core Contingency is the first expansion pack for Total Annihilation released in 1998. The story continues a century after ARM's victory over CORE from the original game. The fifth video of this series follows the story from the CORE's perspective as they carry out their contingency plan to undo their defeat to the ARM. In addition to a new campaign, the expansion also added a few units for each faction. Some great, some others not so much. For the CORE, they are probably better off staying with the base units in the campaign as most of their new units are rather sketchy, and mission design did not allow the good units to be fielded. As if the CC ARM campaign wasn't hard enough, the devs decided present to players some of the worst balanced and unfair missions in the hard CORE campaign. While I'm all in for a good challenge, I cannot say I enjoy this sort of frustratingly unfair design. The shortcomings which I have largely overlooked in my earlier videos were there to annoy me throughout my Core Contingency play-through. The ARM missions were still bearable because, well, ARM -- they are the easier faction to play. The same can not be said for the CORE missions.
