ФСБ ПРЕДОТВРАЩЕН ТЕРАКТ В ЯРОСЛАВЛЕ

The Federal Security Service (FSB) has thwarted a plot to commit a terrorist attack in the Yaroslavl Region. The perpetrator is a Russian citizen and a supporter of an international terrorist organization banned in our country. He established contact online with its representative located in Syria. Acting on instructions from his handler, the terrorist planned to set fire to a Jewish religious institution in Yaroslavl. To do so, he reconnoitred the area and photographed the site, and also acquired components for making Molotov cocktails. After committing the attack, he planned to travel to Syria and join the ITO. The perpetrator was promptly identified and detained by FSB officers. Ready-to-use homemade incendiary devices and communication equipment, in accordance with instructions from his Syrian handler, were seized at his residence. The Investigative Department of the FSB Directorate for the Yaroslavl Region has opened a criminal case under Part 1 of Article 30, Subparagraph "a" of Part 2 of Article 30.
