ФСБ ПРЕДОТВРАЩЕНО ПОКУШЕНИЕ НА ВОЕННОСЛУЖАЩЕГО МИНОБОРОНЫ

A foreign citizen, born in 1990, was assigned by Ukrainian intelligence services to assassinate a Russian serviceman using a firearm. The foreigner was brought into Russia in February 2026 to carry out the assassination. On instructions from his handler, he retrieved a pistol with a silencer and ammunition from a hiding place and also conducted additional reconnaissance at the serviceman's residence and work addresses. He was detained as a result of investigative operations. During questioning, he admitted that he had been recruited by officers of the Security Service of Ukraine in a European Union country, where he had fled to escape criminal prosecution in his home country. His handlers promised him refugee status in the EU for completing the mission. An investigation is underway, and the detainee has been placed in pretrial detention.
