POREČ, Kroatien : Mehr als nur Altstadt! UNESCO, Höhle & Geheimtipps

Welcome to our next video! This is our third day in Istria, and this time we're taking you to places that have absolutely enchanted us with their history, their secrets, and their technology. We're starting in Peroj, where we're staying and where our wedding will take place in just a few days! Our first stop is the historic town of Poreč. We'll show you where you can easily park, stroll through the ancient streets, and visit the breathtaking 6th-century Euphrasian Basilica complex, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Look forward to climbing the bell tower for a fantastic view, the mystery surrounding the stolen relics of Saint Maurus and the empty sarcophagus, and the stunning Byzantine gold mosaics that have shone unchanged for over 1,500 years. Afterward, we'll drive a few kilometers north to the village of Nova Vas, where we can finally cool off in the summer heat. We visit the Baredine Cave, home to a unique blind salamander at a depth of 60 meters – the olm, also known locally as the "man-fish." Right next to the cave, we explore the Traktor Story open-air museum with its fantastic collection of historic tractors, including old Zetor models, and get a glimpse into how people used to live here. You'll also learn about the unique red soil, "Terra Rossa," that makes Istrian olives so famous. And last but not least, we have a fantastic restaurant tip for you! We discovered the amazing Imbiss Baderna restaurant, where we paid just 95 euros for a huge and delicious lunch for five people, including coffee.
