Actress Kyoko Koizumi appeared at the completion announcement event for her starring film "Eating Women" (directed by Jiro Ikuno, opening September 21st) held in Tokyo on August 30th. In a segment where the cast was asked questions based on "women's concerns" submitted in advance, a first-year high school student asked Koizumi what she thought high school students should do. Koizumi replied, "Study, without a doubt." She continued, "I dropped out of high school soon after starting my singing career, but my biggest regret was not studying properly. It caused me a lot of trouble later on." Koizumi added, "You have to read a lot of books (to gain knowledge), look up the meaning of unfamiliar words in the dictionary, and put in more effort than others. I think studying is the best thing to do when you're in high school," she said thoughtfully. When a voice from the audience shouted, "We'll do our best!", Koizumi smiled and cheered them on, saying, "Do your best!" Also present at the stage greeting were Erika Sawajiri, Atsuko Maeda, Alice Hirose, Charlotte Kate Fox, Kyoka Suzuki, original author Tomomi Tsutsui, and director Ikuno. The film is based on Tsutsui's novels "Eating Women" (Shinchosha Bunko) and "Eating Women, Part 2" (Access Publishing). Tsutsui wrote the screenplay, depicting the true nature of "food" and "sex" through the daily lives of eight women with different ages, occupations, and values.
