If there's one thing that fills me with pride as a Nicaraguan, it's our passion for folklore. Today I want to share with you, briefly but specifically, a cultural gem born in the cradle of folklore: the Masaya Black Dance. 🖤 This traditional dance has deep roots. According to historians, it emerged at the beginning of the 20th century, when indigenous peoples demonstrated anonymously, covering their faces with black paint as a symbol of protest and resistance. 🕺💃 The Baile de Negras is considered the most elaborate of the marimba dances. Interestingly, both roles—male and female—are represented by men, who, with colorful masks and elegant movements, bring this artistic expression steeped in national identity to life. 🎶 Accompanied by the vibrant rhythm of the marimba, the dancers connect us with our indigenous roots, reviving a tradition that lives on thanks to the Masayas' love for their culture. 🎭 This dance is not just dance, it is history. The mask not only hides the face; it also represents the link between pre-Columbian indigenous dances, colonial expressions, and our current traditions. 📍 The first groups emerged in the neighborhoods of San Jerónimo, San Juan, and San Miguel, and every year, on the first Sunday of November, this dance becomes the lifeblood of the celebrations in honor of San Jerónimo, patron saint of Masaya. #ThisIsNicaragua #viralvideo #tourism #nicaragua #nicaraguans #volcanoes #GetToKnowNicaraguawithElizabeth, #agriculture #livestock #hiking #news #travel #traditions #gastronomy #catarina #viewpoint #farmers #adventure #landscapes #history #nicaragualinda #food #marimba #dance #folklore #nature #mining #gold #panoramic #wondersoftheworld #incredible #canopy #fauna #flora #animals #horses #park #church #lagoon #swimming #sweets #typicalsweets #sugarcane #alfiñique #melcochas #aquatic #market #atadodedulce #dulcederapadura #dulcedepanela #cajetasdecoco #highway #road #thebestroad #construction #managua #viralvideo #crafts #food #typicaldrinks #blackdance #dance #folklore #Masaya #dance #marimba #cradleoffolklore Hugs 💙
