In today’s video, we bring you an exclusive ground report and the latest construction updates on the highly-anticipated Bhatni - Aunrihar (117 Km) Rail Line Doubling and Electrification Project under the North Eastern Railway (NER) Varanasi Division. This ₹1,300 Crore mega project is the lifeline of Purvanchal, connecting major hubs like Gorakhpur, Deoria, Mau, Ballia, and Varanasi. Once fully operational, it will drastically reduce train delays, eliminate bottleneck crossings, and open doors for high-speed trains like Vande Bharat Express on this route. 🏗️ Turtipar Ghaghra River Mega Rail Bridge Update The crown jewel of this project is the construction of the brand-new, 1.08 km long double-line high-level bridge over the Ghaghra (Saryu) River at Turtipar. The Upgrade: Built by SP Singla Constructions, this modern 19-pillar structure replaces the weak, 114-year-old British-era single-line bridge. Engineering Marvel: Designed to withstand earthquakes up to 7.5 magnitude, this bridge is engineered for trains operating at a top speed of 160 km/h. Current Status: The heavy superstructure, including the 61-meter web girders, is complete. Tracks have been laid across the bridge, and finishing works on the approach lines are underway to seamlessly integrate the bridge with the newly doubled sections. Latest Construction Status (As of May 2026) The Bhatni-Aunrihar doubling project has entered its ultimate final stretch! Here is the breakdown of the progress: 89+ Km Commissioned: Major stretches, including Kiriharapur-Indara, Sadat-Aunrihar, Bhatni-Peokol, Belthara Road-Kiriharapur, Dullahpur-Sadat, and Mau-Dullahpur, are fully doubled and electrified. Recent Milestone (March 2026): The Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS) successfully completed high-speed trials on the newly laid 14.53 km Peokol - Lar Road section. The Final Patch: Currently, intensive work is happening on the last remaining 13 km Salempur - Belthara Road section. Ballast packing, OHE (overhead electrification) alignment, and signaling tests are being fast-tracked.
