And once again, a knife that's been on my wish list forever has finally found its way to me – and now that I have it, I'm seriously wondering why I waited so long to buy it. It might be because I only ever considered the "normal," non-Section 42a compliant version of the Böker Plus Cataclyst with a framelock. Well, I guess I was stuck in my ways! But it's all the more satisfying to finally get the flipjoint version: a 7.5 cm blade made of tried-and-tested 440C steel with a nice, long fuller, running on ball bearings (the action is fantastic...), finely textured G10 handle scales, a deep carry pocket clip, and all this with a total weight of 77 grams. The – somewhat soft – locking mechanism is provided by a detent ball, which is what makes it legal (there's even a BKA (German Federal Criminal Police Office) ruling). And the price is reasonable for what you get. Nevertheless, the price fluctuates between just over 50 and slightly over 70 euros. It's worth noting that the target audience here is likely less the knife connoisseur and more the law-abiding EDC knife enthusiast who wants to carry a safe and responsible everyday carry (EDC) knife. The knife is also available in other attractive versions, such as Damascus steel with brown Micarta handles, or—for a truly luxurious option—titanium. It's worth taking a look...
