SHARK COUNTRY | EXPLORING PORT LINCOLN AND THE EYRE PENINSULA
EPISODE 85 SHARK INFESTED WATERS 🦈 G’day legends – thanks for tuning in to another episode of Wingin it Downunder! In this one, we explore South Australia’s beautiful Eyre Peninsula, from windswept coastal camps and colourful street art to Port Lincoln - well known for it's Great White Sharks. We start this episode at a beautiful and very tidy campground at Lipson Cove on the Eyre Peninsula. We stayed here for a while and the whole time it was very windy, but stick around because we do show you some things we discovered in the area — a stunning spot with some interesting historical remnants that are well worth checking out. Next, we head to Tumby Bay, a lovely little coastal town. After keeping an eye on the weather forecast and seeing some heavy rain on the way, we find a nice safe spot to camp up at the Tumby Bay RV Park before things get wet. While the weather holds off, we take you on a walk around the streets and laneways of Tumby Bay to check out the incredible street art — so many murals to see, and of course the impressive silo art. The final stop in this episode is Port Lincoln, a beautiful town on the coast and a real highlight of the Eyre Peninsula. We were lucky enough to have some spectacular days to explore, and we take you along the foreshore and through the busy port area to get a closer look at what really goes on in this hardworking fishing town. Port Lincoln is also well known for its Great White (White Pointer) sharks, and while we didn’t go shark cage diving ourselves in this episode, we did drop into the office of one of the local operators. Inside, we came face‑to‑face with an impressive 5‑metre replica of a Great White, modelled on an actual shark encountered during one of their cage‑diving expeditions — a real eye‑opener when you see just how big these animals can be. The waters around Port Lincoln and the nearby Neptune Islands are among the most shark‑dense in Australia, a reputation that has earned this coastline the title of truly shark‑infested waters. As always, thanks for coming along for the journey — we hope you enjoy the episode. We are Steve and Dena with our travelling bird Yummy, living full-time in our caravan, travelling around Australia. We invite you to subscribe to our channel and follow our adventures as we explore this amazing country and unearth some intriguing facts in the many little country towns that we visit along the way. #SharkCountryAustralia #PortLincoln #EyrePeninsula #WinginItDownunder #SouthAustraliaTravel #CaravanLife #RoadTripAustralia #CoastalCamping #AustralianCoast #ExploringAustralia
