In this episode we explore 4x4 tracks, beaches, and coastline in remote parts of northern Dhofar, in the far south of Oman. We wake up next to a spectacular hidden wadi pool in Wadi Ash Shuwaymiyah and go for a morning swim and shower - perfection! Heading south we stop off at scenic beaches and viewpoints over the dramatic canyon landscape before dropping down to Wadi Suneik (also marked on some maps as Wadi Al Nakheel / Khor Senaq). We loved camping here on our last Oman road trip and planned to camp here again, but are disheartened to find it strewn with rubbish and a little busy with weekend picnickers, so we carry on south to look for another wild camp spot. We find the perfect place to pitch up on a beach near a beautiful hill surrounded by small dunes at a spot known locally as Fushi. We arrive close to sunset, when a long line of camels are heading home for the night (right past our chosen camp spot!). We spend two nights here, having a bit of a rest day with no filming to catch up on chores like backing up footage, laundry, etc. Departing with gifts from a couple of local guys who visited our camp on the second night, we leave the tarmac behind and follow some 4x4 tracks south of Sadah. We take a few side tracks here and there, ending up at a beautiful picnic spot for coffee. We also encounter camels galore, cows, and even spot a few rare Arabian Gazelles! We end up at our favourite beach camp of the whole trip, watching hermit crabs scuttle across the sand and listening to the waves lap at the shore as we drift off to sleep in the tent.
