One Bad Day, One Perfect Dinner | VLOG Rural Life in Japan

Some days, everything goes right. This was not one of those days. I woke up at the usual time, made my coffee, swept up the cat litter (quietly — the broom is a handmade one and I love it), then headed outside to check on my little garden. The buds are finally starting to open. The dandelion bloomed first. Then I tried to fix my bike. The tire was flat. I had the pump. I had the confidence. ...I did not have the skills. My husband will handle it. After giving up gracefully, I went for a drive to the lake — the water sparkles on a clear day — and picked up groceries on the way home. Then made myself some Shizuoka green tea and sat down properly for the first time all day. Dinner: goya champuru (Okinawan bitter melon stir-fry with bonito flakes and egg) and steamed pork-wrapped pea shoots with ponzu. Cooking is where I actually know what I am doing.
