1920s Old French Game Restoration In this video, I restore an old board game – Le Culbuto, a popular skill game in early 1900s France. I bought this rusty and broken antique game on eBay, in rough condition, missing a key piece – "le culbutant", the part needed to score points. The challenge was to restore the vintage Le Culbuto game while keeping its original charm intact. After two weeks of careful restoration, the game is now fully functional and ready to play! 🔧 Restoration Steps Assessing the Condition Before beginning the antique toy repair, I closely examined the structure. The wooden base was damaged, the metal parts were heavily rusted and bent, and the paint was chipped. Additionally, a key game piece was missing, requiring me to rebuild it from scratch. Disassembly & Rust Removal I carefully dismantled the game to begin the deep cleaning and repair process: ✔ Sandblasting the rusted metal parts to remove years of corrosion ✔ Straightening bent metal pieces and reinforcing weak areas with soldering ✔ Applying a two-layer electrostatic paint finish – first, a primer coat, followed by the final protective coat Restoring the Wooden Base The wood panel was in bad shape, requiring: ✔ Deep cleaning and sanding to smooth out the damaged areas ✔ Filling cracks with wood putty for a flawless surface ✔ Gluing a fresh fabric layer onto the board to match the original look Repairing Metal Components & Labels ✔ Refurbishing and resizing the metal holes to restore their original shape ✔ Recreating the vintage labels for the scoring holes to preserve the antique aesthetic ✔ Reassembling the game with all components aligned perfectly Rebuilding the Missing Piece – "Le Culbutant" Since the main game piece was missing, I crafted a new "culbutant" ensuring it worked just like the original.
