75 Year Old Milk Scale Restoration

Vintage Purina Milk Scale from the 1940s restored. This is a Milk Scale made by Purina in the 1940s for dairy farmers. Dairy farmers would regularly weigh the milk for each cow, as well as measure the cream content, and track the data in order to cull cows that were not producing enough. It is a spring scale and fairly accurate for the weight range 0-60 lbs it is designed for. The restoration: Rust: Everything on this scale was rusty as you can see in the video. Luckily these scale were made from very good quality steel so everything cleaned up nicely. I used aluminum oxide blasting media to blast most of the rust off. Paint: This scale has 5 kinds/colors of paint. Grey interior, hammered exterior, white front, blue dial and red for the artwork/ second hand. I tried to match the color as best as I could. The red is a dead-on match to Purina's red (as listed in their design guidance on their website).
